24-8 Cybertravel uses carefully
selected 3, 4 & 5 star accommodation establishments know for both quality and
service. We have also considered location and proximity to restaurants and
other attractions as many travellers to Cape Town, Johannesburg and
Durban do not hire cars while staying in the city.
The hotel accommodation chosen generally excludes hotels belonging to
large hotel chains. We prefer to use boutique hotels but this
means families with children can not always be accommodated in one room.
We have tried to keep the site simple with a small, varied selection of
3/4/5 star accommodation, not a mind boggling array. This gives us an
indication of the type of accommodation you want so we can advise
accordingly. As the accommodation recommended by us has been
carefully selected (taking much time and effort) only clients have
access the entire accommodation section.

South Africa has a high standard of accommodation with many excellent
boutique hotels and lodges. In addition to hotels there is guest house
and bed & breakfast accommodation offering excellent value for money and
a chance to chat to locals to find out more about South Africa. The
traveller wanting a home away from home experience – serviced self
catering accommodation is the way to go.

There is an extensive choice of hotels and lodges to choose from. The 3
star hotels are ideal for those tourists out and about, exploring the
area and spending little time in the hotel.
The 4 star hotels have superb accommodation, food and service with
lovely lounges, bars and gardens to relax in and recover from the day’s
activities.
South Africa has some exceptionally luxurious 5 star hotels, boutique
hotels and lodges. These rival the finest international hotels and
lodges in both service and quality of accommodation and many are
included in prestigious collections (Relais & Chateaux and Leading Small
Hotels of the World etc).
The game lodge accommodation includes superb private lodges where the
sighting of the big 5 is almost guaranteed on game drives and walks. The
tariff usually includes accommodation, meals, local drinks, game drives
and game walks. The private game lodges are generally 4 or 5 star.

The descriptions of the accommodation categories used on this site are:
Hotels have more than 10 en-suite rooms, there is room
service to a certain degree, depending on the star grading, breakfast is
served and dinner is usually available.
Lodges have a natural setting and usually include meals and activities.
Guest House accommodation has 4 or more en-suite bedrooms, breakfast
is served and the public areas are for guests. Some serve dinners on
request.
Bed & Breakfast is an accommodation with less than 4 bedrooms (usually en-suite), breakfast is served and the communal areas may be
shared with the owners who live in the house or on the premises.
Self Catering apartments or cottages are fully furnished and serviced daily, on
request.

South Africa has a voluntary star grading system for each of the
different categories of accommodation, namely hotels, guest houses, bed
& breakfast and new to the grading system are self catering
establishments. This is done by the South Africa Tourism Grading
Committee (TGCSA) and aims to offer guests assurance of the quality of
the accommodation they can expect. To help improve the grading process,
guests are encouraged to provide feedback on their accommodation. The
ratings go from 1 to 5 star with 5 star being the highest.

: exceptional quality and luxurious accommodation (matching best

The accommodation rates are often seasonal and differ according to room
type. As a guide October-April is high season, May-September low season,
December- mid January peak season.
